In the pouring rain on Wednesday I stopped to help a Chelsea Pensioner recover his shopping, which had cascaded on to the pavement when one of Marks & Spencer’s paper bags failed.
This also happened quite recently to my Assistant, Paula, and to my wife, Virginia. How many more of their customers have to suffer before M&S realise what a mistake they made by trying to appease the anti-plastic lobby. See https://www.biodeg.org/subjects-of-interest/paper-bags/
They should go back to plastic bags, which do not fail when they get wet, but this time they should get the bags made with d2w technology so that if they do end up in the environment they will not lie or float around for decades. Instead they will quickly biodegrade, leaving no microplastics or toxic residues. See https://www.symphonyenvironmental.com/technologies/biodegradable-plastic/
